Clay, a former law enforcement officer now working in healthcare management, discusses their lifelong struggle with weight despite trying various diets and exercise regimens. They highlight the ineffectiveness of short-term solutions and the importance of a sustainable approach, emphasizing the need for a support system, coaching, and emotional counseling to address stress and emotional eating. After starting a new program, they experienced a significant weight loss of 17 pounds in a month, starting at 288 pounds, and noted a decrease in appetite and increased confidence in the programʼs long-term sustainability.
I spent 12 years in law enforcement, got injured in a lot of duty. Iʼm on the fly. Am I right? I know getting led to go back to college, finished my degree in healthcare management, and now I work as a mid-level healthcare executive. Iʼm five foot 10. Currently, just weighing this morning. Iʼm 270. So Iʼve had a lifelong struggle with weight. Tried everything from Weight Watchers to South Beach to tracking my calories in the food apps, working out like a maniac, and nothing, nothing works. I was a pretty accomplished athlete in high school, like college football, multi-sport athlete, and all kinds of stuff. And then as I aged, my metabolism slowed down, my appetite didnʼt. Losing weight at the beginning of any of the programs Iʼve been on has never been hard. Itʼs the for lack of a better word, stick-to-itiveness, that Iʼve never been able to find. None of those diets out there are effective in the long run. All of them work great in six to eight weeks, but theyʼre not sustainable. So I was looking for something that was sustainable. And honestly, the thing that really caught my eye about this was the support system and the coaching and the emotional and counseling part of it, because the stress eating and the emotional eating, because I didnʼt even realize, you know, in the middle of the night, eating 3000 calories with chocolate and stuff like that. And I didnʼt even realize I was doing that, and not realizing what that was doing to me. Biggest thing I noticed was on the scale, in my appetite. I started day one at 288, and Iʼm down way this morning. I was just 71. So thatʼs 17 pounds in a month. Canʼt remember. I think I told Sean my goal was 10 pounds in the first month. So Iʼm doing alright. I need the mindfulness. Thatʼs the most important part of this program. So I think the big things I found after, after my first month are down 17 pounds, significant decrease in appetite, just the confidence in itʼs going to be sustainable in the long run.
